Installation Methods for Bathtub Faucets

Depending on how you want to design your bathroom and which connections are already available, Duravit has three different types of tub faucets to choose from:

1. Bathtub faucet: Exposed

With this type of tub faucet, the entire faucet – including the tub filler and the shower connection – is installed on the wall. The bathtub faucet is then ready to use so you can draw a relaxing bath. Since Duravit tub faucets always come with the option of combining bathing and showering functions, you only need an additional shower hose and a handheld shower head in order to shower. With an exposed installation, the hot and cold water is mixed directly in this type of tub faucet. A major advantage of exposed faucets is the inexpensive and straightforward installation. The connections are already installed in the wall so the faucet only has to be connected to them. If you ever want to replace your tub faucet, this type of installation will make the replacement much easier.

2. Bathtub faucet: Concealed

As the name implies, concealed faucets are installed hidden inside the wall. This means that only the controls are visible. The hot and cold water is not mixed directly in a concealed tub faucet, but rather in a separate, concealed unit that is built into the wall. The addition of the right bath filler or a practical handheld shower head lets you create the perfect wellness moment in your bath.

3. Floor-mount faucets for your bathtub

Perhaps unsurprisingly, we recommend using Duravit bathtub faucets in a freestanding design with freestanding bathtubs in particular. Important: These tub faucets require connections installed in the floor. Just as a distinction can be made in the different types of faucet installation, a similar distinction can also be made in how your hot water is handled. In other words, you can choose between a bathtub faucet with a thermostat and a single-lever bath mixer.
