Today marks the 5th Anniversary of a life-changing liver transplant for a special little girl. Witnessing the transformation of an 11-month-old baby girl, from struggling in the hospital to preparing for kindergarten, fills us with immense gratitude.I am forever thankful to my children, husband, and friends for their unwavering support during my journey leading up to the surgery and the days of recovery following the surgery. The experience of being part of this miraculous journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, leaving me forever grateful for the opportunity to be part of something so incredibly wonderful. We are so grateful to have Molly and her family in our lives.#raiseawareness#liverdonation #donatelife

This caught my eye as I was scrolling. Funny how this works out sometimes. When a door closes, there are plenty of windows that will open. You drive your own destiny in life whether it is in your personal life or in your career. Your value is not determined by others who can’t see past their own interests and gains. It is determined by your own ability to see what you are worth and capable of achieving. Don’t let anyone hold you back. Go for it!

June is a very special month for me. As the weather becomes warmer and you begin to notice kids enjoying their outside play time, I think about one very special little girl. Five years ago, I donated part of my liver to a baby girl who was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. For those of you who are not familiar, about 1/3 of the babies with Biliary Atresia need a liver transplant because surgery failed. Without the transplant, these babies and toddlers would not survive. I was fortunate enough to know a wonderful woman who worked with my husband. It was through my husband that we met, but it was through the unbreakable bond between two mothers that we became family. I am so excited to share another milestone in our joined families when this adorable, full of life, thriving 5-year-old gets to walk down the aisle once again. In November, she took her job as a flower girl very seriously in my second oldest daughter’s wedding. In September, she does it again for my oldest daughter. It is important to recognize the gifts we are given each day. Sometimes we forget to notice because we are so distracted by stresses of life and work.Take a moment to look around and see the miracles that are happening all around us. Please learn more about how to become a organ donor or bone marrow donor. There are many children and adults in need.Boston Children's Hospital

Such a simple concept to understand. Yet, so many leaders do not embrace this because they don’t want to rock the boat. It is so puzzling to me that leaders who do not recognize this outnumber those of us who do.If great leaders were hired for every position, this number would be 2% instead of 72%. We must continue to work together to achieve our goals of creating the best possible future and culture for the people we lead.

This is very interesting. It is something all leaders should be doing. Many leaders only consider their own personal interests and advancement. They find their way to a leadership position, but don’t necessarily find the way to help others in their organization. If you only look out for your own interests, you won’t succeed in the end. You will fail at being a leader because you don’t see the most important aspect of leadership. It’s those you lead who truly determine your success. It is through their success that you succeed. Pretty simple concept that so many leaders ignore or don’t understand.
