We’ve built a simple ranking system of 4 tiers.
S Tier – The S Tier weapons dominate the tier list due to their power, versatility, utility, and/or overall usefulness. Besides, any S Tier weapon in this list works great in combos.
A Tier – New World weapons Tier A are made for weapons that work very well but that appear to have clear weaknesses.
B Tier – Weapons in Tier B are made for average weapons. Those are good weapons that, in general, work really well with particular builds.
C Tier – Slightly below average weapons that require a buff. Of course, they’re viable in both PvP and PvE but not the best decision you can make.
D Tier – These are pretty the same as the previous one, but we don’t recommend them for beginners.

The Best New World Weapons for PvE
The best weapons in New World depend on you them use either for PvE or PvP fights. First, we’ll mention the best weapons for the environment. These are, in general weapons with high survival features and with a high speed.
S Tier
In the S Tier, there are the most used weapons in New World and those that can be part of great combos.
Hatchet
Weapon Masteries: Berserker and Throwing.
S Tier Hatchet This is the first place due to many reasons. The most relevant is that you can combine Hatchet with some heavier weapons to develop its potential. Also, you can berserk to complement its versatile playstyle.
Life Staff
Weapon Masteries: Healing and Protector.

It’s a great choice for secondary weapons since it can regenerate mana to support magical weapons, such as the Fire Staff. It also can be a great defensive back-up if you choose other melee weapons as your primary damage-dealer.
Fire Staff
Weapon Masteries: Fire Mage and Pyromancer.
Since this is one of the best-ranged weapons, it’s a pretty safe one with a lot of versatility. It’s a great weapon to eliminate creatures from a distance by deleading massive amounts of fire damage.
Spear
Weapon Masteries: Impaler and Zone.
The A Tier Spear is great for crowd control while staying at a safe distance. The Spear applies bonus damage based on the debuffs on the specific target. It works incredibly well combined with the Rapier, rotating between both by applying Rapier’s Bleed and Spear’s Bleed.
B Tier
You can unfold good gameplay with these weapons, though they’re not the best for fighting wars against a lot of PvE enemies.
Rapier
Weapon Masteries: Blood and Grace.
B Tier Rapier is another melee weapon that works great with the previous one. However, it’s not a great choice if you’re a beginner and you want to stay alive in the different situations in the harsh environment of New World. The Rapier is perfect for direct attacks, deflecting and evading the attacks of the enemy.
Bow
Weapon Masteries: Hunter and Skirmisher.
B Tier Bow is a good choice to provide ranged attacks which can keep you safe at a distance, especially when you’re a novice. It can scale very well with other dexterity weapons, in addition, to applying debuffs.
Void Gauntlet
Weapon Masteries: Annihilation and Decay.
In much the same way that the Ice Gauntlet is a great secondary weapon for the Fire Staff, the Void Gauntlet perfectly complements the Life Staff. Musket
Weapon Masteries: Sharpshooter and Trapper.
C Tier musket is not so a good weapon for the open-world due to its slow reload times and the necessity of good aim, in addition to ammunition. Besides, the musket only does single target damage, which is not well when hostile NPCs catch up.
War Hammer
Weapon Masteries: Crowd Crusher and Juggernaut.
In most rankings of PvE and PvP weapons, the War Hammer appears in any New World tier list. We do not agree with this. Even though its weapon’s damage is quite high, War Hammer has a very slow attack speed. A good idea is pairing it with a good defensive secondary weapon.
Best New World Weapons for PvP
As you can notice, the ranking for PvP weapons and PvE weapons has slight differences. This is because the conditions are totally different in both PvP and PvE cases. In general, weapons that combine good damage and speed are good in the latter case. In PvP situations, great damage and dexterity are good options.
S Tier
Here you find the most versatile weapons that, in addition, deal great damage against most opponents.
Ice Gauntlet
Many people think Ice Gauntlet is one of the best weapon types for PvP, and we can not agree more. The reason? Because defensive and mana regeneration is fundamental in PvP battles. The builder specialization is a great secondary weapon option for different weapons, such as Fire Staff and Life Staff.
Hatchet
The Hatchet usually appears in the first places of the tier lists. This weapon is really good once you get into combat and face struggle; its effectiveness is really high! The Berserker and Raging Torrent combo can burst down all types of armors. Furthermore, the Berseker can get traits that prevent stagger. This means the Berserker has an almost uncounterable window of damage.
Great Axe
Great Axe deals a lot of damage and crowd control that are essential for getting a good stun when you fight against other players. Besides, the weapon has some healing effects. The fact that it can track enemies so well makes this weapon great.
A Tier
Good weapons for most cases when you find a rival player. They require great ability, dexterity, and intelligence.
One Handed Sword and Shield
A Tier sword and shield is great for single-player damage and when you want to be tanky. This way, you can resist a fight against many players and stay in the battle for a long time.
Life Staff
A Tier Life Staff is the choice for those who want to take a support role and heal allies in the heat of battle. Since it has great buffs, Life Staff becomes an overpowered weapon in duels while playing.
Rapier
Rapier is faster than other weapons and still provides a lot of damage at high performance. It also gives you the possibility of evading easily, which you can use for attack canceling. The only problem is that the Rapier lacks range, which can be dangerous on the battlefield. But it’s just for you to learn how to use it.
B Tier
These weapons can lead you to victory against other players, but you’ll need to plan an strategy to leverage their potential.
Bow
Bow shines when it comes to single-target damage at a long range. This makes the bow one of the safest weapons when battling. High AoE and headshot damage are what make this weapon so good.
War Hammer
With the B Tier Warhammer, you will deal a lot of damage, but you’ll lack mobility. Anyway, you can make uninterruptable attacks that can bring you victory while staying alive. Pairing it with secondary weapons like Ice Gauntlet will allow you to leverage its very high damage potential.
Musket
Since this weapon has the ability to aim well, it’s perfect to deal long-range damage. This weapon type is in the B Tier because using it well requires a lot of experience. The weapon just can’t deal a lot of damage output due to players not hitting headshots.
C Tier
There is only one weapon in this Tier, which can be very powerful if you combine it with other weapons. It requires you to know it well.
Fire Staff
C Tier Fire Staff can be a better choice than the previous option is you combine it with other weapons wisely, especially if you’ll take a support role. This is the premier choice for pure damage. Besides, the Fire Staff provides ranged attacks, AoE damage, and decent mobility, so it can be a nice option when you’re fighting as a beginner.
D Tier
Perhaps, the worst weapon in this Tier list, but not a useless one. Some players can achieve great feats with the Spear.
Spear
Spear has a lot of crowd control, but it lacks mobility. Spear is quite slow, so it’s very difficult to bring out its best potential if you don’t have enough skills. Furthermore, you’ll need to measure the distance to strike a blow.
New World Best Weapon Combos
As you could see, there are several broken weapons in the game. But still, to get their highest potential, you must be equipped with two weapons.
One of the best combos is the Hatchet Berserker build combined with a Life Staff. This way, you can heal from attacks.
Another great combo is the conformed by the Fire Staff, and the Ice Gauntlet Mage Build. Firestaff will deal great magical damage, but it’ll drain a lot of mana. On the other side, the Ice Gauntlet can provide additional mana, and Ice Storm, with which you can slow enemies and deal even more damage.
Last but not least, a good combo you can create is the Rapier and Spear Build. The Rapier’s Blood will allow you to stack bleeding enemies, while the Spear will add extra debuffs game’s foes.
